IMPROVING THE LIVES OF THE ELDERLY
There are several simple steps that can be taken immediately to improve the lives of elderly Americans: (1) establish a minimum Social Security income of 1500.00 per month; (2) provide 100 percent free health care; and (3) provide affordable housing. The costs of providing this better situation for elderly Americans can easily be covered by tax reform, which establishes a 50 percent income tax for the wealthy and for corporations.
NATIONAL BAN ON HYDROFRACKING
The oil and gas corporations wield a tremendous amount of power in Washington and in the state capitols. This excess power over our government has made it possible for the oil and gas companies to rapidly expand the use of high volume hydraulic fracturing (HVHF) in the United States. HVHF has caused a great amount of harm to the environment and public health in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. This must be stopped. If elected I will introduce legislation that would ban the use of HVHF in the United States.
CIVIL LIBERTIES TASK FORCE
If I am elected, I will work with great passion and energy for the creation of a Civil Liberties Task Force. The mission of this task force will be to empower the use of civil liberties amongst Americans. Our right to freedom of speech has been gradually eroded over the course of the past several decades. Now is the time to turn back these losses and forge ahead with a new age of freedom. The Civil Liberties Task Force would conduct public forums across the nation to learn first hand what Americans are thinking about their freedoms. This task force would develop new opportunities for Americans to exercise their First Amendment Rights. Establishing free speech venues that compensate for the free speech venues of the past that have been lost would be a high priority for the Civil Liberties Task Force. We no longer have the streets for free speech due to the change from horse powered transportation to automobiles. Now is the time to establish some powerful new free speech venues.
NATIONAL NIGHT SPEED LIMIT
The advent of automobiles has imposed a tremendous amount of suffering on wildlife and pets. In order to create roadways that are not killing zones for the animals I would introduce legislation that lowers the speed limit to 45 miles per hour on all roads during the hours of darkness. I drive 45 at night and am able to avoid all collisions with wildlife by maintaining that control of the speed of my vehicle. This is for the baby raccoons, the baby skunks, the porcupines and the white tailed deer. Our society needs to start showing some concern for the wild animals that we share the Earth with.
